Serengeti National Park

Just oustide the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Serengeti National Park is one of the largest in Africa. It was made as a national park in 1951 with an area of 14,800 sq. km. The originality of this Park is the variety of environments: open, grassy plains in the south, savannah of acacias in the central region, wooded hills to the north, large wooded area and plains dominated by mountains in the western corridor. This park is home in all seasons to a considerable wildlife. There are around 3000 lions present almost everywhere. But it is especially known because of the great migration of wildebeest and zebras in constant search of new pastures, which makes them go to Kenya's Masai Mara in July and August and then return to Tanzania.

Given this migration, some lodges or camps are better placed than others at certain times of the year, which was also one of our selection criteria.
